It was a shock to hear of the passing of Malcolm Kennet.
He was a supporter of the Club for a good number of years and a Life Member. He will be sadly missed. Our thoughts are with Verena, family and friends at this time.
With the announcement of the death of HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, as a mark of respect the Club flag will be flown at half mast until 8am on the day following the funeral. The Club extend their deepest condolences to Her Majesty the Queen, and the Royal Family at this time.
We have received details of the cremation of Laurie Walmsley. This will be at Thanet Crematorium on 25th March, at 12:15.
The cortege will leave from his home at approximately 11:45. It has been suggested that those wishing to pay their respects might congregate by the New Inn on the corner of Tothill Street at that time, suitably spaced in accordance with the Covid-19 Regulations.
Those members wishing to attend the Crematorium, please adhere to the two-metre rule and be aware that you can only meet ONE person outdoors.
It is with regret that I must inform you of the death of long-time Member Brian East.
On behalf of the Club, the Committee would like to offer sincere condolences to Jean, his family and friends.
I do not have details of arrangements, but as soon as they are forthcoming I will let you know.
We hear, over Christmas, of the death of long-time member Alf Wigley.
The Members, Officers and Committee offer sincere condolences to his family and friends.
Arrangements for his funeral are – Thanet Crematorium, Friday 26th February, 11:30am.
Some Minster members may like to pay their respects to Alf by being outside Coles’ yard to applaud him on his way. Others, especially those from Westgate, Birchington and further afield may want to go to the Crematorium. In either case, it would be a nice gesture if we were to wear club ties and blazer (under overcoats if necessary).
Remember that if you go to the Crem. it is likely that there may be a limit on numbers allowed, if Covid regulations are lifted, there may be a large family attendance. In either case, there may not be spaces inside for the ceremony.
Please pass this information on to those members that you know may not have visited the website.
To all Members who attended John’s funeral on 30th November, thank you for your support. These are traumatic times and knowing that we have support from friends is very comforting.
Thanks, keep safe,
Pat Miles and Family.
Welcome to the new Minster Bowls Club website – we hope members will enjoy using this as it is far more interactive than anything we’ve had previously – you should be able to view it better on iPads, Tablets and Mobile Phones. You also have the ability to register which will then give you access to the ‘Private’ pages eg those listed on the Fixtures/Results pages under the ‘Team’ links, where you will be able to put your name down for selection, saving you a special trip to the clubhouse. Registered members will also have access to the Members List which shows contact details eg phone numbers and club email addresses (not personal email addresses) but not member’s home addresses (for security reasons) this page is therefore ideal for organising competition fixtures and lifts etc.
